Spirituality Spirituality has only two requirements: 1. To be 100% self-centred. 2. To live 100% in the Now. Most children are like that. Perhaps that's why Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19.14) The essence of spirituality is to know our true selves, our inner being, and how that is marred by its expression through our humanity. To learn that is a life-long process, and perhaps it requires many births and rebirths. Perhaps we have to be "born again" in a literal sense as well as the mystical sense in which Jesus expressed it. To be spiritual requires that we become self-centred. The more self-centred we become the closer we express our spirituality. The spirituality is already there - we just have to find the right way to express it. It is our humanity that gets in the way. St Paul expressed it like this: So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. (Romans 7:21-23) (This section is under review and will be updated soon with a more coherent explanation) Recommended reading (for starters!!):
